Intervention Team 

The team is made up of around thirty psychosocial workers trained in helping relationships in the field of mental health. 90% of our speakers hold a bachelor’s degree in a psychosocial field (psychology, social work, criminology, sexology, etc.) and some hold their master’s degree or are in the process of obtaining it. 

All our stakeholders receive training on assessing the dangerousness of a suicidal act offered by SAM (Suicide Action Montréal). They also receive individual and group clinical supervision. We also offer continuing training to all our stakeholders in order to provide quality crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to our members of le Centre L’Autre Maison.  

Our alternative approach 

At Le Centre L’Autre Maison we are keen to promote an alternative approach in our interventions. We are proud to be part of the Regroupement des Ressources Alternatives en Santé Mentale du Québec (RRASMQ) http://www.rrasmq.com/ 

We believe that symptoms are human experiences that can be questioned and understood. This is why our speakers work in collaboration with the person to reduce what is causing the distress. We are not primarily looking to make the symptoms disappear. 

Moreover, at Le Centre L’Autre Maison we pay particular attention to the importance of a quality welcome. It is also important for us to promote the person’s regaining power over their own life. We ask the person to participate in his intervention plan. For us, providing access to information to people using our services is also part of our alternative vision of our services.
